Welcome!
It is a pleasure to introduce you to Map Room. For too long, advisory and resourcing markets have been the fertile grazing lands of a small group of global firms, protected by brand and scale. The world has changed.
Increased regulatory risk, consumer mobility, the rise of challenger banks, technology firms and more dynamic, agile industrials has created demand for more than a just a brand. A demand for true expertise, delivery and assurance.
Map Room was founded with transformational purpose. To offer a Practitioner led model which draws it’s talent and expertise directly from industry. Our teams, from Partner to Analyst are experts, with proven track records operating and executing in the fields they now consult, for businesses just like yours.

Our Vision
Like many businesses, our story is one of evolution and continuous improvement, yet always retaining our relentless focus on Customer Excellence.
Map Room was formed in 2012 as part of the Bateman Collins Group, the first UK Professional Services Group to operate through a guiding CESG framework. As a Group, we deliver Executive Search and Leadership Advisory services through our Bateman Collins team, specialist Consultancy and Resourcing through our Map Room team and Technology Services and Product Development through our Artemis Infinity team.
Our Mission
As a business, Map Room’s original mission was to support UK Financial Services leadership teams with specialist interim resources and expertise. Over time and through demand from our Customers, Map Room evolved to provide a turn-key solution for our Customers focused on delivering against their desired Outcomes – owning, shaping and continually improving how those outcomes are delivered. Our early engagements were led by the Groups founders, Barney Collins and Zoe Evans, now Group CEO and COO respectively, these included the delivery of IRB Programmes, Strategic Operating Model designs, development of Treasury functions and a host of core Retail Banking projects through which we developed our brand, customer trust and a depth of experience across a range of specialisms.
In 2017, our journey evolved again
As we supported a major UK Banking Group to deliver core FCA actions as part of a critical enforcement action. At this point, our now Managing Partner – Andy Phillips, joined the Map Room team to help shape the strategic direction of the business and to build on the experience and success to date. Map Room began the journey to develop unique Practice teams across core specialisms including Conduct & Assurance, Commercial Sustainability, Due Diligence, Strategy & Operating Model and Remediation.
Senior leaders across both Financial Services and Consumer Services had expressed to us their dissatisfaction with Consultancy firms which offered very experienced Partners and Senior Directors but very little by way of real-world experience within the delivery teams. The core principle of our Practice teams would be that every member of the team would be an expert in their respective field and would have operated within the specialism and roles for which they now consult. Our approach proved successful, appealing to Clients and Consultants alike.
Between 2017 and 2020 our customer base grew rapidly
As a team we delivered some of the highest profile and complex regulatory enforcement actions over the last decade, totalling five FCA enforcement actions. Our largest Customer team during this period comprised 250 FTE spun up from a Green Field site in three weeks – located, onboarded, trained and deployed. During this period we developed and deployed activities across a number of niche risk specialisms including Financial Difficulty, Vulnerable Customers, Outcome Testing and Colleague Competency.
