Compliance Officer

Our client, a Financial Services firm offering both Consumer Lending and Mortgages products are currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join their team as a Compliance Officer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and industry best practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of key duties, including:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crafting a comprehensive Compliance Monitoring Plan and QA Framework, collaborating closely with our Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to facilitate effective first and 2nd line compliance reviews.
  • Overseeing internal evaluations of policies and procedures, conducting gap analyses, and proposing recommendations for enhancements, while diligently monitoring the closure of identified gaps.
  • Executing the Compliance Monitoring Plan through regular reviews, presenting detailed reports to Senior Management/Board, outlining severity of identified issues, recommending remedial actions, specifying timescales, and monitoring closure progress.
  • Ensuring swift escalation of identified issues to the CCO and Senior Management.
  • Collaborating with the CCO in administering our Consumer Duty and Conduct Risk Framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Offering first-line regulatory guidance/advice as needed, meticulously recording, analysing, and reporting to the CCO regularly.
  • Monitoring the administration of complaints in accordance with our policy, presenting monthly trends and issues in Management Information reports to the CCO and other Exec members.
  • Independently assessing complaints to ensure fairness, consistency, and justification of outcomes.
  • Scrutinising business documentation, customer-facing letters, and materials to guarantee compliance with regulatory requirements, clarity, fairness, and absence of misleading information.
  • Designing and delivering Compliance training aligned with our training plan.
  • Undertaking ad hoc compliance tasks as assigned by the CCO from time to time.

Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience in a compliance role within the financial services sector, preferably in a lending environment, would be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of the regulatory framework in financial services.
  • Highly organised and methodical, demonstrating the ability to see projects through to completion.
  • Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with operational departments and across all levels of management.
